Kings Beach is sandy beach on the North shore where water can get warm enough for swimming rather than just dipping. Of course, it depends on the weather and season!

Pros: this beach is just across the road from various shops and restaurants, so getting food for a quick bite or hearty lunch is easy as one-two-three. There is also a small section of the beach where dogs are allowed. There are a couple of kayak and paddle board rentals nearby.

Cons: Parking is very limited, so either come very early or be prepared to park far away and walk - sometimes 15-20 minutes - to the beach. As is the case everywhere on Tahoe, bring your own shade and drinking water.

Due to limited parking spaces, a lack of shade (the sun is always across the lake) and a permanent weekend traffic jam, this beach is one of the last choices for our family, despite its clean sand and shallow water. Well, maybe we just didn’t prepare well enough!
